Ardmore City officials say renovations to troubled portions of wastewater lines, that run under a neighborhood are about to get underway. The project is part of the recovery stimulus contract awarded to Carter County to help make necessary upgrades to outdated equipment. City officials say they will be replacing a part of a sewer line that’s more than a half century old. The project will reinforce hundreds of yards of time aging sewer lines. Assistant Utility Director Blake Rudd says the project won’t be too much of an inconvenience for residents who live off of Myall Road near South Commerce because city workers can get to the sewer line without tearing up the streets. Officials say most of the project will be paid for by stimulus money. Carter County received $1 million from the $21million pot awarded to 32 Oklahoma counties. The project should take around 6 months to complete.

A Sherman man was sentenced to 30yrs in prison Thursday for repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl. 33yr old Randy Kranning was sentenced in Grayson County District Court after hearing detailed accounts of multiple incidents where he touched the girl inappropriately over a 3yr period that started when she was 10. Kranning has a long history of drug abuse and had previously served time in prison for burglary and theft. He is currently facing a cocaine possession charge as well.

27yr old Randy Allen Thomas was arrested and placed in the Grayson County Jail on a warrant from Grady County, Oklahoma, as a fugitive from justice and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. On Jan. 27^th deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in Paradise Cove in Pottsboro. Thomas opened the door of the house and confronted officers with a gun in his hand. A responding officer then shot Thomas in the upper leg. Thomas was taken into custody and treated at a local hospital. The officer involved, is on administrative leave. The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office says a routine internal investigation, assisted by the Texas Rangers, is underway. Thomas remains in Grayson County Jail on $100,000 bond.   

After a car crashed into a house in Sherman Wednesday evening the driver of that vehicle was jailed for driving while intoxicated and booked into the Grayson County Jail. Sherman Police say the driver of the Jeep, 30yr old Micah Baker, left the road, drove through a yard, and slammed into a house. None of the three people inside the home were injured.
