A Dallas-area man has been sentenced to 17 and a half yrs in prison and ordered to repay nearly $18 million after pleading guilty to fraud in an oil and natural gas drilling scheme. U.S. Attorney John Bales said Monday, that 50yr old Michael Eugene Dannelly of Denton was sentenced in federal court last week on a charge of mail fraud. Howe, Tom Bean and Van Alstyne Fire crews all battled a house fire at 103 Young Street at the corner of Young and Branch in Howe last night. The flames broke out around 4pm when the homeowner was at a softball game. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt, but a couple of pet birds died in the blaze. The fire Marshall says the fire started in the kitchen near the stove, but no official cause has been determined yet. There was heavy smoke damage inside the house, but the fire Marshall thinks it will be salvageable. The homeowner is receiving help from the American Red Cross.
