It seems like all we've been putting up here lately has been about Miranda Lambert... but the woman has been crazy busy with the release of her latest album, "Platinum," which just happened to have taken the No. 1 spot on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 albums chart.
This is the first time Miranda has accomplished this feat and her project clocked in at 179,000 units sold, according ot the Nielsen SoundScan.
That adds up to Miranda’s biggest one-week sales ever, besting the first-week sales of her previous releases, Kerosene, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Revolution and Four the Record, all while incrementally gaining sales with each successive album.
Platinum is also the largest sales from a female country singer since (who else?) Taylor Swift’s Red was ruling the charts in late 2012.
“THANK YOU to the music lovers who believe in albums and spent your hard-earned money on 16 songs!” said Miranda in a statement. “Sixteen songs that all say something important to me. I hope that they also speak to you, and I hope you enjoy listening to Platinum. Thank you to the incredible musicians, songwriters, producers and artists that put this record together. I’m the luckiest girl in the world, blessed with the best fans!”
Perhaps even more mind-boggling is the fact that Miranda is only the 11th female country singer in history to claim a Billboard 200 No. 1 album since the chart’s 1956 beginning.
Platinum’s big sales also placed it at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart with ease, and its lead single, “Automatic,” hit No. 1 just in time for the album release
