Reba, Bobby Bare and Lorett Lynn playing Johnny Cash Music Festival
An impressive group of country legends, including Reba McEntire, Bobby Bare and Loretta Lynn, have been named to perform at the 2014 Johnny Cash Music Festival. This is the festival’s fourth year, and it will once again be hosted by comedian Mark Lowry, Aug. 15 at Arkansas State University’s Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
“When I was asked to perform at the Johnny Cash Music Festival, there was absolutely no hesitation,” said Reba in a statement. “I have always had a great deal of respect for Johnny Cash, and not just because he was one of the finest entertainers, performers and recording artists this industry has ever known. It is also because of his compassion and generosity. The fact that some of the money raised from these concerts goes into a scholarship fund to help deserving kids further their education is something I know would make him very proud. I’m also really happy that I will be playing on the campus of Arkansas State again—we had a great time when I performed there years ago. Jonesboro is a very hospitable town, and I look forward to being there again.”
Tickets for the event go on sale Feb. 28 and will be available on Arkansas State University’s website. As with previous years, proceeds from the festival will help fund the restoration of Johnny Cash’s boyhood home in Dyess, Ark., as well as a scholarship in his name.
