Country music gets dramatic - and occasionally Brittish - for the Opry

Yes,the Grand Ole Opry is the most iconic institution in country music and should, thusly, be taken quite seriously. But even the folks at the Opry have a sense of humor, and they have more than proved it with a contest challenging country music fans, artists and radio personalities to interpret favorite country songs in a “dramatic reading.”

OK . . . so “dramatic” may be a bit of an overstatement, but personalities like Love and Theft, Larry Gatlin, Chris Janson (who adopts a British accent), Janelle Arthur, Blair Garner, Storme Warren and Bobby Bones are hilarious as they “speak” the lyrics to songs like Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart,” Thomas Rhett’s “It Goes Like This” and Jake Owen’s “The One That Got Away.”

Check out the Grand Ole Opry’s Facebook page to view a playlist of the videos and to vote for your favorite. The fan who gets the most votes will win a trip to Nashville—and you’ll get a darn good chuckle for the day!
