New Miranda Lambert album is 'Heavy Metal'

Don’t let the metallic-sounding album title, Platinum, fool you. Sure, she’s one edgy country singer, but Miranda Lambert isn’t about to go rock ’n’ roll on us. “Platinum is my hair color, and my wedding ring, and the color of my Airstream and the name of one of my favorite beers,” she says. “It’s about a lifestyle.”

The first single from the album, “Automatic,” - currently playing on KKAJ - is already burning up the charts, but Ran says the entire project is diverse and a little more mature than previous releases. “There’s humor on this album, and nostalgia, and it’s feminine. There’s girl power, not in the [sense of] ‘I’m gonna burn your house down and kill you,' but more where I am as a 30-year-old woman and wife. I’m more settled in life, embracing the good and the bad, and that’s all reflected on Platinum. I still blaze around, but in a less chaotic way.”

The 16-song collection, which includes “Automatic” and—according to the AP—a collaboration with Carrie Underwood, is set to release on June 3. Ran will also perform “Automatic” on this year’s ACM Awards, airing live from Las Vegas on April 6. You can vote for her to win the coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy at the awards show starting March 24 at VoteACM.com.
